Financial support is provided in part by:
The City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, An A-I-S grant from The California Arts Council, a state agency, and the NEA, a federal agency and The Dr. Seuss Foundation at the recommendation of Audrey Geisel, The SDUSD Community Foundation and Las Patronas.

BRIEF HISTORY:
We are a vibrant arts organization dedicated to building a permanent place for puppetry in San Diego. We formed originally in 1957 as an informal, primarily social group to serve local puppeteers, but over the years, our mission grew. Since officially becoming an IRS 501(c)(3) Tax-exempt, Non-profit Corporation in February 1994, we have become a firm, focused, collaborative core of professional performers, teaching artists and dedicated volunteers, determined to grow the art form we love, and the services we offer, for the benefit of the community we serve. To this end, we create shows for all ages, teach pre-K through college, present acclaimed guest artists, organize small conferences, mount exhibits and giant puppet parade pageants, and design a variety of special events, often in collaboration with other arts organizations.

Although we bring programming, performances and special events to many different audiences county-wide, a major priority has always been to serving children and families in diverse, working class communities. We believe ALL people need the transformative, life enhancing experiences that the arts have to offer. Ongoing grant support is crucial to our efforts, as we seek to expand our programming to other communities, and thus the focus of the majority of our grant writing goes to support these programs.

OUR MISSION:
To introduce the magic of the puppet theatre experience to San Diego County audiences; to
develop and promote the art form through performances, education outreach and special events.

BIG THANKS for all the support

and donations.

We raised almost $7,500

during the BIG give event December 14-15, 2011

The give BIG event was a success.  We feel so much gratitude towards all the people who donated and made the event a success.  With the funds raised we will be able to continue and work towards starting a new puppetry residencies in schools that would otherwise not have any art at all. Through grants and generous donations from people like you we have been able to teach and work with thousands of kids in the San Diego region. The benefits of art is priceless but we can't keep the programs going or create new ones to reach out to even more community members without donations from people like you.

Didn’t get a chance to donate during the BIG give event but would like to make a donation now or at another time?  No worries you can donate to us any time through the form below.
